So, I don't know if there is much more i can say about this. But this goes well with my current quote for the website... pro rich (dollar sign) and pro-war (gun). But it does makes sense since being republican and christian are the synonymous... well, at least they are both against abortion and homosexuality and that is what really counts. right?

Clean Water

This short PSA aired on American Idol last week during the Idol Gives back episode, which i thought was pretty amazing . I thought it was a great way to open the show and to show (millions of people) what that nights episode would be about. It takes place in New York City to resemble what happens everyday in Africa and to show the great need for clean water. I dont know exactly what about it gets me but i think how it takes place in the most populated city in the united states and how there are people like us who dont have access to clean water and how it is a real global problem. Although in the commercial they have computers but no clean water so it does look a little bit goofy. It was interesting to see something like that on prime time TV. TV usually likes to try and show us things to make us feel good or tell us how to feel good, but this PSA (and show) was devoted to exposing the harsh realities for billions of people (And how we need to help change it). In the words of Steven Colbert American Idol deserves a tip of the hat.

Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly, Hotel Rwanda director Terry George, and award- winning cinematographer Ellen Kuras donated their time to shoot our PSA. Imagine if New York’s taps ran dry. What would we do? This 60 second spot allows us to imagine for a moment what life without clean water would be like in New York City.

This entry was written for my biblical studies class and I have to do at least six entries so I will post them as I finish and get them graded. Enjoy!

1. Bioethical violations Such as Birth control

2. Morally dubious experiments such as stem cell research

3. Drug abuse

4. Polluting the environment

5. Contributing to widening divide between rich and poor

6. Excessive wealth

7. Creating poverty

I think some are silly and good things to call out as a problem, but i want to focus on the last three which are (pretty much the same). when i read the fifth one i cant help but think if we didn't live in an individualistic society and didn't strive after the “American Dream.” Now i know that the world wont change over night but i am starting to see that there are christians who are begging to look past the whole gospel that you often heard that said god says we are to be rich. which neglecting the words of Jesus that says sell all you have and give to the poor or even the words in the bible that says to store up treasures in heaven rather than on earth. Which i have now gone into number six. Excessive wealth which i personally think is not necessarily bad but i think money does corrupt and to often when i put on tv i see “christians” saying to give them money and god will bless them and give them an amazing return to help their personal wealth. Shane Claiborne had said in his book Irresistible Revolution that we worship a homeless man on Sunday and reject them on Monday- Saturday. That is slightly extreme and he knows it... It was pulled of the bible where it says the Son of God has no place to lay his head. I have come to find out that in being a christian it isn't about me and it isnt centered around me. Yes, i am saved and reconciled, but after that then we are called to look past ourselves and to serve. Also, in the bible we are told to live by faith and not by sight. (now i know this will be extreme and i am trying to save so that i will be able to use my common sense to be financially secure) but when we worry about our own wealth and try to work and work and work to get money and save it and to build up our own wealth then we are no longer fully trusting god but in our own ability to be financial security. So my problem i have with that is that we are no longer giving our whole person to God and we are living to build up our kingdom here on earth.

Car Commercials

Car companies are either trying to change a culture or are trying to take advantage of an emerging culture... Along with this Hyundai commercial, Saturn has one that says to Rethink Excess... Rethink American. The ad suggests that maybe less is more. Altho they are referring to cars the idea can go much further and if i find the video on youtube i will post it and let you see for yourself... At any rate i like this new marketing as much as i think marketing is pretty deceptive. The below Hyundai commercial makes some good points... also

So... Just as a note.... I have since left Tulsa and the whole taking pictures of Tulsa travel has ended for now. I will be visiting Tulsa again at a later date, so if i have my camera with me I will be sure to post them...

I am starting something new. Tulsa has many cars that are in disrepair. I think that they get in an accident and never fix them. On any given short trip you will see about a dozen cars that are broken. This means there are missing doors, car hoods, lights, and windows. I want to document all the cars I see everyday for a month.

Well at work I got switched around from fraud investigations to Special Operations where I am working on processing everybody bankruptcy claims. Since all the laws change today (14) on how you file for bankruptcy we had a mad dash of claims before it gets harder for them. Man That made me mad. I sat through education Wednesday with another workstudy and we both did not understand what we were doing, but they got me doing side-by-sides and that is when I started to understand what I am to do. The person I did the side-by-side with road bikes and wants to Mt. Bike. She belongs to the White Clay Bike Club. So now I finally got a hang of it, probably process 50+ in 4 hrs. Which is pretty good since I am only expected to do 20 per/hour.
Lets just say I picked up the Coffee habit to keep focused. They have starbucks there which is a nice sight for sore eyes.

All for under a $1000. What a deal

Lance Armstrong's record setting seventh Tour deference victory, alongside his entire Tour de France legacy, may betarnished by what could turnout to be one of the greatest sports scandals of all time. Armstrong isbeing quizzed by French police after three banned substances were found in his South France hotel room while on vacation afterwinning the 2005 Tour de France.

The three substances found were toothpaste, deodorant, and soap which have been banned by French authorities for over 75 years. Armstrong's girlfriend and American rocker Sheryl Crowe is quoted as saying "we use them every day in America, so we naturally thought they'd be ok throughout Europe."

Along with these three banned substances, French authorities alsophysically searched Armstrong himself and found several other interesting items that they have never seen before, including a backbone and testicles.

Today I must have showered 4 times. I think I am set for another week. I played raquetball and when I was done I took a shower. And later I decided to ride my bike to work, so when I got to work I had to shower again, and also when I got home I showered, then during youth group I got sweaty so when I got home I showered. Boy am I tired of showering.

One last thing...
On my way home tonight I saw a gas station out of gas. Take from this what you want, but I don't think it is good.

Nothing exciting here. Only the new 32in Flat panel LCD tv that hangs above our fireplace, but other than that nope.

You have to give the mantis credit. He has got some talent to catch a humming bird. And we all know how fast they are (humming birds), but don't just take my word for it check it out at your local library.

I just got out of work, snaged some dinner and hoped to be there in time for the free bobblehead doll. Ana put her trash on my pizza.

So in my depresed mood (and no an elephant did not sit on me) this guy walks up and says would you like to play a game. Well naturally I said, "Heck yes I do!"
and so my sister and I signed up. She chose to launch the water balls.

Actually Ana wimped out and told her friend that she was signed up to do it. So Kelly and I played.

And I had to catch them in a water filled bucket. On the first of three balls I slipped running to catch the ball and spilled all the water. (It did make it easier though). I only caught 2 of 3. It was fun and my fall was extremely graceful. I even got some comments from people. They loved it.

We won 4 Blue Rocks tickets, and the envelope is good for a free nachos order at some bar.
Of course my mean man WALT "the usher" came over and handed us a ton of free coupons for an appitizer at Timothy's (the bruchetta rocks).

This guy went to ORU and everytime before he bats in the 1st ining I yell O-R-U EAGLES!!!!
I hope I get to meet him soon...
